The tempertures in my tanks have been fluctuating a lot with the ac running on and off during the day. Had to treat the 20 gal. tank for ich last week. All is well. Adjusted heater from 75 degrees to 78 degrees the tank gets no warmer than 80 degrees. Need to buy heater for 55 gal. tank so the same thing doesnot happen. What type heater will be best for 55 gal tank?
All opinions are welcomed. Thanks.

I've got a 200 watt ebo jager in my 50 gal. I like this heater, works good for me.

Hi there. I had heater problems before. I hated that heater (sorry venting alittle). Anyway, we upgraded to a I believe it is a Hydromatic submergable. I think that is the brand I could be wrong.
But it works great. I have maintained a temp of 75 deg. for over a month now.

Hi LaurieP,
Do you feel submersible heaters are better than the ones that stick on the back of the tank or does it depend on the name brand?

I liked the ebo jagers until I had one fail. Now all I use is the visitherms and have never had a problem.
For a 55 gallon a 150-200w unit would be fine depending on your room temp. If it gets cold, get the 200w. If it is at normal room temp year round the 150w unit will be fine.

Won Pro Heat titanium. That's what I've got in all my
tanks, and love 'em.

No glass to break and out of tank
controller. Here's a couple links I've ordered from. B)

Sorry I can't answer your question. I have only had one of each. Now years ago I had one that was not submergable, and it worked fine. So maybe it is the brand and the watts. that play a major roll.
Good luck.
Ps my subm. one sticks on the tank as well it is just submerged. '

Thanks everyone for your replies.
pm94 thanks for the links. Hmmm interesting, no glass to break and the prices are good also. Would definately consider that heater.
