When a fish has amonia burns they will turn black once they are healing ? Correct me if I'm wrong. Are they in any pain during the healing process and if so is there anything I can buy to ease the pain ?

I would think that the absolutely best way to make them feel better is to just make sure your water is as pristine as you can make it. Keep careful tabs on the parameters, and that ammonia burn will heal so quickly that your fish will forget it ever happened.

I am going to do a 30% water change every other day until things calm down some.. I just hope that he is not suffering. Thanks for replying !

Very true, ammonia burns turn brown/black when healing. Just keep testing your water and making sure that the ammonia level in the tank is 0ppm.

Is your tank new? What are the params right now?

You could add some MelaFix to help heal the fish, but if you keep the water really good, you shouldn't really need it.

About the pain, I never really thought about this before, but I am sure that it is not the most pleasant thing in the world for the fish sad.gif As far as I know, there is nothing you could really do to ease the pain...
