My mom says male bettas make bubbles because they are building a nest for the females. my mom's betta used to do this a lot, but now he doesn't...or rarely does it anyway

what is the reason they make bubbles?

it's kinda funny watching patrick make them lol

Yup, Patrick is indeed making a bubble nest.
Males do this for a number of reasons. They are healthy, they are ready to spwan (they make a bubble nest for when the female releases her eggs, they pick them up and keep them safe in the bubble nest) and they can build nests when they are very ill also, seen a few with that case at Petco...they were literaly upside down in a bubble nest.
Souds like your betta is very happy and well if hes already making a bubble nest. Horray for such a good fish parent! biggrin.gif You should be proud!

that's neat

he's very happy.

He likes to swim around and stare a lot too

plus he knows when feeding time is already! I tap gently on the pineapple (he lives in a spongebob pineapple) and then I put the food in and he comes up to the surface a bit and takes it out of my fingers

he's so good smile.gif
