went to nnnnnn and bought a whisper 30-60 and two 20-40 models. my 30-60 had broke in the 35g tank, motor is damaged, but that one was many years old though. I also bought two of the 20-40 so I can have 1000 gallons of total filteration in my 45g long tank. This will help nicely with the overstocking I have. wow its amazing to see all those waterflows(6 total) in such a small tank! I have over 20x tank flowrate per hour now!

also im selling or even giving away my 3 koi so ill have even more room

that's great!!

but do take note that the water flow is not causing too much water current that may be too much for your fishes to handle..
cheers

Just curious why you went that route? You can get an Emperor 400 for 40 something, then with 2 of them, you'd be at 800 GPH, which will STILL circulate your tank about 17 times an hour, plus then you wouldn't have so many waterfalls. You'd have 4 waterfalls, and biowheels!!

waterfalls produce oxygen, also I like whisper filters and already had many. I juse added more. and nnnnnn does not have emperor filters. Petmarts does but its like $70! and I have 1000gph of filters, thats better than 800

True, you have more GPH, but you also have a tank that probably has one heck of an undertoe!! Oh, and just for future refrence, you can get an Emp. 400 at Petsmart for 40 something,as long as that's how much they have it listed for at Petsmart.com. That's how I got one of mine... or you can get em from Big Al's for 40 something. Plus, you'd have biowheels, which would help with your overstocking as well! And still have waterfalls for oxygenation.

I forgot to mention why I bought off nnnnnn is bigal raised their prices on filters by alot! now with shipping its no cheaper than nnnnnn anymore

I hope their lower their prices in a couple months when I get apartment and many fishtanks or ill have to buy all from nnnnnn. My fish have no problems with the current, they arent the least bit moved

Hiya Lovely I'm wondering if when you went to BA's in search of filters if you went to the US site or the Canadian site. When you said they had raised their prices I went to check it out and saw that if you had bought them from BA's even after S/H you still would have saved $25 over the nnnnnn price. I then went to the Canadian site and saw that the prices are higher. Just thought you and others might like to know that.......
BTW hows the job hunting going?

the canandian site wants $65 for the model 60 while the usa site wants $32. nnnnnn wanted $35. I can tell you shipping is gonna be at least $15 if I bought 3 filters at bigal's so this cancels out the deal. id rather pay the same price at nnnnnn and get the filters instantly instead of waiting 2 weeks for bigal's shipments like they took last time. and I havent hunted for a job yet, I want to get my A+ certification first

then I hunt for jobs, find one, work and when I get my paychecks, rent apartment and the fun begins from there

Shipping would be 10 bucks....and you pay 6-8% tax buying them at nnnnnn.
Total cost to get them at Big Al's should be 86 bucks, meaning you would have saved 9 bucks. Whether that is worth it is up to you I suppose.
Out of curiousity, have you tried another brand/type of filter? I've used two Whispers and you could not make me go back if you gave them to me free. I know of very few people who try another brand and actually decide the Whispers are better. Given that buying them online it's not even much cheaper to get them, I don't see the point of sticking to them so avidly.

Aquaclear are so much better filters than whisper, and I would never ever go and get a wisper again. I only bought it once, it came with a setup a few years back. I had that whisper on one of my quarantine tanks (20 gl), and an Aquaclear on the other 20 gl. whisper didn't even come close to the performance of the aquaclear - whisper gets clogged up so much faster, impeller stops all the time, and its much noisier. Not to mention that you can pack so much more filter media into an aquaclear. And the prices for them at BA's are way better than a whisper....

to be honest I havent any real experience with other brands. whispers have given me little problems. The only real problem I have is that when I unplug the filter or there is a blackout, some of them and sometimes do not start sucking. I notice there is not enough water so I add more and this usually helps, if not, I lift up the tube and insert it back in and this does the trick. I only had one whisper quit on me and it was my first one from like 10 years back, motor finally died. the main reason for whispers is because the filter media for them is cheap and readily available and comes in boxes of 8, 12, 24. other filters have media that come in a bag of one and this adds up in cost. finally whisper filters are cheaper than most and readily available. and ive had and used whispers for like 10 years(my first whisper) so ive grown used to them

I already have so many whispers, it would disrupt the balance if I get different filters, I want all my tanks to have one brand

I've had a whisper once and I also would never go back to using one. My choice for HOB filters would be either an aquaclear or a penguin.

The nice thing about using the AC is you save money on filter media. The sponges last for what seems like forever. I also like that I can put 2 sponges in it. I've had AC's running on my 2 tanks for about a 1 1/2yrs and haven't had to change the sponges yet.
