Sounds like they are reacting to something..I have seen my snails doing this at the water line to pump air into their lungs..was yours on the ground doing this?
Sounds more like a nitrate spike..and I am not to sure how they react to a temp change..keep us informed how are they doing now..I know you need to go away with peace of mind..Linda

well my snail was floating on a peice of lettuce then BAM he dropped to the bttom and started doing it... botha re fin now in the tank... i added half of tank water and half of the old water and tried it with my snail today... weird thing is...he acted somewhat normal bu kept lifting up his shell really..i mean really high you could see very far in him.. so i put him in the tank again incase something was going to happen... i still cant get the darn temperature to stay constant... im not using those thermometers.. im using myfinger but it's alot colder then the tank and way cooler then the room... how can it not adjust yet to room temp??? its been 2 days!!!
