Is it normal for a snail to sleep everyday, either on the bottom of the tank or stuck on the glass.. My snails sleep for an hour or 2 a day and then go out and eat the next 22 hours...either veggies or algae

How long and how often do ur snails sleep?

by the way, my snails sometimes whne on the on the bottom of the tank he sorta sleeps with his head and a bit of the foot out of the shell... he isnt dead (since he's been doing this all the time and is as healthy as can be) should i be worried about him sleep half out his shell??

Thanks

Heya Hamsta...
Snails can sleep large amounts of time and be perfectly healthy! Some say after eating large meals, its normal for snails to sleep days away!!
Also, they say that snails are more 'night creatures' so they could lurk around in the night (thats why they say its sometimes easier to feed them at night)

My snails differ... my bigger one never seems to sleep! She is always out and about, and when she rests, she hangs out too, she rarely goes in her shell completely... however my smaller snail is always sleeping it seems.... when i first got her she was always out and about, but now that i have the fish she sleeps a lot more, i often wonder if she is getting the food because of the piggy bigger one! tongue.gif
