My koi recently died after 10 years so I am looking to get tropical fish this time. I was wondering what are some types of peaceful tropical fish that begs for food when I look at the aquarium. I liked the way koi and goldfish follow me around begging for food. I would move to one side of the tank and they would follow me and when I move to the other side, it would follow me.
Right now, I am looking at getting some cory catfish, dwarf gouramis, platies, and/or other type that would beg for food. Would any of these fish live while I cycle my tank? If not, what are some types that can? I don't really want to get danios, but will if it would help.
Lastly, how many of these types of fish would be recommended for a 50gal aquarium and how many of each of these types of fish should I get?

in a 50 gal tank, i would go for around 48 inches of fish..... thast their adult size not twhat they are when you buy them though !
as for what fish to have, the possibilaties are endless providing you dont get large fish with smaller fish that fit in their mouths... what you have listed sounds good, just stick with the colourful, standard line community fish, and maybe even a pair of angels,
as for cycling, why not try a fishless cycle ? MUCH healthier for your fish !
