Yesterday I got water lilly's and my friend and I picked up the pot to put it in the water then we set it back down because my dad needed my help with something and after we picked up the pot and put it in the water and at thebottom of the bag was a little physa actua snail with half of her shell crushed (we must have crushed her when we put the pot back down.)I put her in the water because I thought she would be happier dieing in a pond but today I see her in my pond alive crawling around. with the whole side of her shell missing! she has been crawling a little bit but hasn't left the general area were i set her down. her shell sways with the curret i don't think she is eating becuase she hasn't left the spot. I tried to pick her up but she had herself glued to the pond liner and i didn't want to hurt or crush her shell even more.
Will she survive? anything i should do?

I can't take a picture because she is too deep in my pond so my camera won't take the picture because all it does is take a pic of the reflection.

Their shell wont grow back but a thin layer similar to a shell will form. Could you add a few egg shells in a nylon stocking(to keep them put of hungry GF mouths) to the water to speed up the calcifying process? Also having hard water helps.

I don't think it will grow back, but as long as the snail is quite healthy it should be alright.

If you can get the snail out, you can make a "customized" shell for it. Egg shells or other SHELLS work, you just have to very CAREFULLY use tiny dabs of superglue, taking care not to let it touch the snails body. Crazy right? It works though.

No snails, but I DO periodically superglue nasty ladies mouths!!! HAHAHAHA. Nah, I've never done it, but there's instructions on the apple snail website to do it. Isn't that weird? If my stinker broke her shell, I'd do it in a heartbeat!! I'd rather superglue 'er than let her die.

I couldn't help but tease you-afterall i'm still thinking about the eggs in your plant!!!!

If you only knew how long it's really been since I've laughed like that! really.. And yes...I would superglue a snail shell too if it meant keeping it from dying!!!

she is growing a thin blue layer of new shell she looks kinda of funny because her shell is all messed up and at the top where it is suppose to be a little swirl it is cut off so she looks like a snail that lost a boxing match!
She is moving around and ate some lettus today.
