Thought i would ask you all,as i'm sure atleast some of you have some snails in your tanks. Already been to applesnail.net,so I'm looking for a second opinion. I have a small golden mystery snail that i've had for a few months. a couple of days ago he pulled really far inside of his shell and hasn't done anything. now,applesnail.net says he's not dead unless his body falls out of his shell and supposedly dead snail smells like nothing else on the planet. I'm wondering if any of you have a snail who has done anything like this and did it recover? If so,about how long did it take and did you do anything special to help him?

Sorry for the non-goldfish post
Thanks,
Danielle

Mine did that, But he done it when my pH was really out of wack, He also does it when I give him a lettuce leaf to eat on, he will go inside for maybe 3 days, maybe 4 <So just keep an eye on him, for if he starts HANGING out of his shell, Mine will be asleep sometimes and he will kinda hang out his shell, like maybe 3/4 inch. but if I move him , he goes right on in.So good luck! Hope it helped any.

When i moved back from college my roomate filled a tupperware container with tap water and put my snail in that for the trip... ohmy.gif Needless to say my bestest buddy got really sick and he was tight up in her shell for over a week! Need the end of that week, when i picked her up out of the water (the now clean water, don't worry!) i could see her reflexing, in and out, so i knew she was still alive. i just kept her in great water and offered her lots of food and eventually she came out - although she just happened to come out the same day i bought her a friend, <_<
Also, if snails have had big meals, they usually go in and rest for a bit!
I've had snails die before and it is true, they start to fall out of their shell, and the smell is probably the worst in the world!!
