Does anyone know if Orandas have a preference for tank shape- rectangular vs. hexagonal ? I know this may be a dumb question, I just want my Fishy Boy to be happy unsure.gif

I think what matters is the surface area at the top of the tank. Rectangular tanks (though I could be mistaken) have greater surface area vs a hexagonal tank of the same volume. So rectangular ones are better, unless its a really short hexagonal tank.

that's right.. so long it has a large surface area unlike a globe where its opening is smaller..

some breeder even opt for a large circular ceramic pot that look like a giant soup bowl or ice cream bowl where the surface area is so much bigger..

a few more points to take note, room for the fish to swim, ease of maintenance, ease of decorating your tank and ease of equiping your tank with necessary accessories..

that's all.. smile.gif

I have both a rectangular tank and a hex tank. My particular hex tank is Ok in terms of surface area because it's wider than it is high, but the corners obstruct my viewing of my fishies. I would definitly recommend a rectangle tank.
