im feeding teh snails in a bowl but after they are done i return them to the tank.. i clean the water in the bowl witha net but the next day the water is all murky!!! anyone have any suggestions o how i can maintain clear water without using a filter or does murky water (cuz of poo remains i guess) affect the snails negativley in any way?

How big is the bowl you are using?
If it is only small, why not change the water each time. Do you use the water out of the main tank so that it has the same temperature and parameters?
I gather the reason you remove the snails from the tank would be that your fish are beating the snails to the food. Instead of having to remove and handle the snails all the time, are you able to make a plastic partition? You could make this from perforated sheet of plastic or nylon fly-wire and temporarily place it in the tank during feeding time and remove it when the snails have had their fill. You could even roll the plastic or whatever into a large tube, say 6 inches in diameter and a bit longer than your aquarium is deep. Place this around the snails where ever they may be in the tank and feed them that way. I'm sure you will come up with something.
Be inventive!

Usually my snails eat up the food so fast there's no way the fish could get to it! tongue.gif

I agree with Rudolph - if you are putting them in a small container say, every 3-4 days to eat, just take some of the tank water and put it in the container, and when they're done, empty/rinse it out. Next time you feed them, just use more water from the tank. That way the temp/params/ph is all the same and it won't stress them out!

Also, just in case you don't know, NEVER use untreated water (ie tap water) I learned my lesson when i was a newbie to snails.. They are just as sensitive as fish are in that regard, always use the tank water to be safe smile.gif
