hi! I just bought a new tank and want to decorate it. There are some very nice peices of natural driftwood from the Great Lakes listed on ebay. Is natural driftwood safe to use in aquariums? Should I clean it?

It could be risky. I boiled mine even though I bought it from the aquarium shop. It can also mess with the ph, so if you dare to try, be careful.

I personally wouldn't use it; it's best to buy driftwood which has been specially cleaned and treated for aquarium use.

Driftwood causes your ph to go down and turn water to yellow. But after a few months, the yellowness will go away.

I just received a huge box of the neatest driftwood from someone and I am dying to put it in my tank, but I don't think I will.

I love my fishies too much to risk it.
