i have a new snail... i dont know what kind it is...it doesnt have an operculum (trap door) and no 2 sets of tentacles.... its shell is coneshaped...
what does a pest snail look like... i wanna know if mine is a pest

it could be a physa acuta or a giant pond snails which have very swirly shaped long(coned)shaped shell. physa's aren't as long
Any snails you don't want in your tank are *pest* snails but it isn't like there is a specis of snails called pest snail.
Physa acutas are usally the snails people get from their plants they buy they are really small rarely exceeding 1 cm. if you go to applesnail.net and go to pictures and then go to other snails and you can see which one most closely resimbles yours.

thanks...is he compatible with a comet and 2 mystery snails??? do i need to like "quarantine" him before i put him in??? thanks... how much room do these guys require and do they eat the same food as mystery snails??
