Ok Lynn, Here goes...

You need a place for them to spawn (i.e. some spawning mat, or grass (kinda looks like Christmas garland but heavier duty snd usually black but I wouldn't swear to it). You need boys AND girls and probably 2 yrs old. More like 7 to 10 inches long. Mine reach that size in one year if its a good year. A place where the eggs can hatch undisturbed (not a lot of water rushing, lots of plants is good and short algea is good (for the fry to eat). Your pond has to be very natural without a lot of chemicals added as this will hinder production. Keep the water quality as good as you can without adding chemicals. Green does not nessessarily mean bad, stuff in the pond for the fry to eat then LOTS of growth food for when they get a little bigger. I don't encourage it as it turns you pond into a soupy mess. It reaks havik with your nitrite levels. All that protein!!!!! I had to do 3 85% water changes just to get the level at 1ppm just 2 days ago. Oh and yesterday when I was saying they were great , today I am sweatting bullits

as they are very stressed from such dramitic water changes but better that then dead from nitrite poisoning. I still have 1 or 2 more females about to burst. You were saying??
