Im so bad. I love bettas sooo much that I just cant stop buying them. After Big blue died about a month ago I promised I would wait awhile to get another one and if I did I would ONLY get one. WELL.... about a week after big blue died I got a new betta (red and teal) and but him in a nice mini bow 2.5G all to himself. He really seems to like it. WELL, about 2 weeks ago I bought a 5G hexagon tank (was cheap at nooppee, regular 50 at petsmart and petco and 30 at nnnnnn) SOOOOOO.... I bought it. couldnt help myself. Its all set up. Looks really cool. Has a beautiful white and purple betta in it (going to take pictures tomorrow and post them up on the net for you all to look at). I now have a frog in with the betta. Not sure what im going to name the two bettas OR the frogs.. Any ideas? Oh, almost forgot, while I was getting my white and purple betta I also saw this beautiful blue and teal betta that I HAD to get and put it in my moms betta vase (2G vase) that I myself take care of. I hate the betta vase thing, but my mom loves it and she was upset when her betta died (due to lack of care and FEEDING!) I now take care of her bettas. Im hoping soon to buy a REAL tank and put him in it when my moms not looking and ill just put some fake betta or MAYBE since she shows no interest in them (obviously since she didnt feed them and one died) she wont notice!!! Well, I swear I cant get another tank! Right now im living with my mom and dad while I go to school (to be an RN) and gosh there is no more room for anymore fish tanks in my room OR bathroom. Got a 30G goldie tank in the room, my 5G hexagon and the mini bow in the bathroom. HEHE, Im hoping to get a 50G or more real soon and put the 30G in Thomas's (my 3 month old sons) room. He just LOVES watching them. SOOO stimulating. I can sit there with him and watch them. Boy he gets real excited. Anyways, ill post pictures tomorrow of my tanks and Beautiful bettas and PLEASE keep me from getting anymore!!!

I can't help you resist the betta addiction. I am now up to 15 and I have to work hard to not get to 16

yup same here. we can't stop. we need AA or should it be BA -betta's anonymous. -humph.

Maybe I should re-think going to the LFS today to look at bettas, you people are addicted!

Here is my usual scenario:

Go to the lfs or even worse, nooppee. Can't help but look at the bettas. See a poor pathetic betta in a small cup of yellow, dirty water. The little guy wiggles at me and frantically calls from the cup. I think "Well, I do have that empty one gallon bowl at home. It would be way better than that awful cup".

Bring home said betta. Put in one gallon bowl. Within two days, back to the store to buy a new tank with all of the accessories.


After a few weeks or months, repeat said scenario.

Or have your child go with you and her tell you oh Mom how can you leave those fish like that...buy them all, ok just a couple, we have vases at home, please mom don't leave them......

Hello-my name is Sharon,and yes I am a "bettaholic".(The first part of treatment is admitting your addiction!) I bought my first,and within a month owned 18,had a couple casualties,and I have 15 now.It's been about 3 or 4 weeks since I last bought a betta,and I have to say that I'm going through the "cold sweats",and shakes. Touchofsky,I'm right there with you,except I live on E-bay buying up every little fish tank 2 gals. or bigger,that I can find! Ive lost track on how many there are now. my daughter think's I'm nuts!-The last time that I was out with her,I bought not one,but two,and then tried to hide the fact all the way home! My skin is itching right now,because of the length of time since I did that. I'm ready for another..........Yes.....My Name is Sharon,and I proudly carry that title of "bettaholic"

Devs lol!! I am curbing my addiction however I had to make a deal with myself in order to do it. If the reptile acq. heating pad works on my glass 1.5 and 2.5 gal. acq. then I am rescuing at least 3 or 4 more babies very soon. Our mornings here in my part of California are still cool and since all can't have a 5 gallon (for now ..he,he), I am working out a way I can utilize some of my 2.5 acq and 1.5 bowls. I must have more bettas!!! I am also strongly considering a frog too however will wait a bit as will live vicarously through a new pal at work who will be bringing hers there soon. They sound sooo easy. Lives on freeze dried blood worms..frogs are such a crack up. I'll have one probably by the end of summer if that. Of course more Bettas too!
