Can I keep a
big lion head 4-5 inch with
2- 2 inch Ryukin and
1-2 inch lion head
in same 30 gal tank untill I get a bigger tank and fishless cycle it so at least a couple of months?

Technically, you are overstocked, but you are remedying that. And the fish are FAR better off in a cycled tank while you cycle the new one.

I would beef up the bacterial colonies - give them extra media to implant on and encourage lots and lots to grow. This will help them process any excess waste that may occur from the fish.

As far as the sizes - they should not bother each other. They will enjoy the company and cannot eat what they cannot get in their mouths!

You might try dropping a small filter on the side of the cycled tank that the fish are in and running it for a week. You can then pull off some media to help cycle your new tank, and use the rest to beef up the 30 gallon for the time being if you wish. Or just transfer the entire filter to the new tank to goose that cycle fast!

Sounds as if you are doing fine. Happy cycling!

Your right about seeding the tank it really help a lot!!
I forgot to state that I've got two- auqua clear 200 and
a new ehiem for up to 60 gal filter will that help with the
waste factor I 've tried live plants I bought from nnnnnn
but then started to have problems with parasites as a matter of fact I kept
part of the of one plants in a baby food jar with water for well
past a month in my very hot garage I live desert and my
garage reaches temps to 100+ , scraped the plant and still
can see parasites under the microscope ohmy.gif unbelievable any ways
I'm really scared to keep any live plants !

You can safely sterilize those plants by soaking them in a solution of potassium permanganate or PP. (NO FISH IN THERE!) Add enough to the water that it is purple and you cannot see through to the other side very well and let the plants sit for at least 4 hours. The solution will turn brown when it is "used up". I have sometimes dosed things twice if it turned brown too quickly.

This should effectively kill any parasites those plants are carrying.

Artificial plants can be beautiful and certainly are neater! And far fewer worries! Whatever you decide to do, your tank will eventually look beautiful if you keep at it!
