Im just wondering why you want to get tropicals when your GF tanks are overstocked. Shoudnt you care for the fish you have instead of adding new ones?

"
this is what renting an apartment is for. I will have my cake and eat it too. I can buy enough tanks, perhaps 10. the smaller tanks will be for tropicals, but I could put them in large tanks if need be. I wont mix fish, all gouramis will go with ONLY other gouramis. I have not yet decided what size tank to put em in. I was thinking of a 30g cube, maybe ill put them in a 44g pentagon tank for my corner of the apartment that I will rent soon enough

do gourami need long tanks? angel fish like high tanks and I will have mostly high tanks due to lack of space in apartment. can gouramis do fine in 2 feet long tank?
"Gold, snakeskin, platinum, all those types get very big, some up to about 12" or so. I would suggest really, really doing some research on tropical fish websites before getting any kind of fish so you will be sure to provide them proper care."
I did, one website says the males get agressive towards other fish so I wont be putting anything but gouramis with their own kind. no goldies, no angels, no platties. I never heard of 12" gourami, lemmie look it up.

you are right on the 20g min tank. I agree because at 6 inches, they need room to swim and turn. I can give them 30+ gallons however. after much research, every website quotes 4-6 inches for gouramis, 12" for the pink kissing gourami. I wont be getting those pink kissers, too large.
"I have also seen some of the dwarf get close to about 4" such as the red or the red and blue dwarf. Gorgeous fish, though!"
yea I agree. can those dwarfs go with the regular gouramis? I have much to learn about gouramis before purchasing. white(silvery), blue, gold, pearl, sunset. are there any more major colorations for the non dwarf?
