Full Version: Clown Loach Scare!

As I was doing a water change on the tank this evening, I noticed one of the Clown Loaches was missing. I took every plant and every ornament out - still no joy. I even unpacked the filter to check if it had somehow got in (even though the grills were miles too small for that.

I'd just got to thinking the other fish must have eaten it (and disposed of the bones) and started to put the bogwood back in the tank, when I noticed a red tail sticking out of a hole in the wood. I couldn't believe it - the loach had got into a hole literally as big as itself, and wedged itself in. Once i put it back in the water, it swam out of the hole, and down to join the rest of the group.

Since then, it's disappeared again, and I've gently lifted the same piece of wood, only to find it back in there. I know they like small holes and caves, but that was mad! Thud.gif

lol yeah they like hiding in strange places, and they are not the only botias that do, I remember once my clown loach hid in a cave like yours did, and when I removed the cave without knowing it was there it jumped out and into my bin!!! lol it was fine though lol

I also found my blue botia wedged in behing a talking catfish in some driftwood the other day, I honestly thought it must have gotten crushed, but it seems fine.

lol crazy little things
