Umm i've had the big one since March, and the smaller one for about 2 weeks! They've both grown quite a bit and LOVE takin' over the tanks....

Black orlando bet you cant wait to get your snail what are going for Brig or canna and what colour...sorry for being nosey I am waiting for a lass in the UK who is waiting on a clutch of purple and jade and I am going to get one of each if all turns out well..here in our local pet stores I have only seen gold apple snails the guy called them mystery snails but it means the same thing LOL ..I find that we tend to know more about these little guys than the people that we buy them off..mr pet shop man told me Sid would be fine living with goldfish in cold water ..I nearly lost him till I was informed different..when you get your new pal will you show him/her to us...by the way Squishy and Toot are nice looking snails..I cant make out if they are cannas or brigs?? do you know which ones they are...Linda

The bigger one is an apple snail, smaller is a gold inca (which i believe are acutally the same thing ? )
I am in the midst of trying to figure out if they're male or female.. i'm guessing both the same sex because they're not 'frisky' with each other

Ohh right its sometimes hard to tell i keep Pomacea bridgesii...they will not eat the plants in your fish tank and prefare soft almost rotting veggies and fruits..where cannas are little lawn mowers and will eat all fresh greens..I live in the UK and have only ever seen brigs in our local pet shop..I found this off applesnail.net and it has been realy helpfull to me.......

Here's how to distinguish between bridgesii and canaliculata: hold the snail up on end and look at it with the spire sticking straight up (view from the side). If the "steps" meet at right angles and have the effect of a Mayan step pyramid, then it is a bridgesii. If there is a deep grove running around the spiral, then it is a canaliculata; they look like sticky buns.

hmm i'm not sure.. but i always feed them fresh veggies and they chomp those down in minutes!! its amazing how much they eat... but they won't eat rotten veggies so i'm guessing they're cannas then ? maybe...

the pic on the top of this topic has apple snails as Pomacea bridgesii so i wonder if all apple snails are that?
Whenever i try to acess applesnails.net it never works... i've tried hundreds of times, how strange...

I was playing around with Squishy and Toot today, seeing if i could figure out they're sex.... well i ended up just having the funnest time playing around with them! Anyways Toot is a little bugger and is playing shy but i think they're both girls!
