what ze heck.. i've had him for like 3 days.. and now he little white dots all over him... what is it?

Though I'm no expert, I'd have to say that's Ick....it's caused when the fish gets stressed, maybe from transporting him? Anyways, I'm currently treating my fish for Ick...with an Ick Cure from a LFS (Quick Cure is one brand name). When treating them you'll want to take out the carbon from your filter, and raise the temperature (the life cycle of the Ick is quickened with higher temps). Anyways, that's all the advice I can give. Hopefully this will help. If I missed anything, someone else will be along to help.

I had success using a product called Rid-Ich by Kordon, I
got it at Petco. Remove all the carbon out of your tank and
follow directions(for smaller fish use a smaller dose). Turn
off the tank lights and cover the tank with a towel. Yes, turn
up the heater to around 80*f. Every 3rd day syphon the bottom
for eggs. Leave everyone in the tank and treat them all. Use of
aquarium salt? varies from person to person.

Yeah the Ick need the lights to reproduce them selfs, so turning them off is good.

Sorry was on vacation. I caught mine early and it cleared
up in around 3-4 days.
