I was wondering where everybody get's their tanks.I want a bigger tank like 55 or a 75 for my goldies cause they're small now and a bundence.I was also wondering what the cheapest place was because I don't want to pay 200 for the tank then 300 for an oak stand.Y does it seem that every big fish tank now has to come with a expensive oak stand?!

I'm really looking not to spend a fortune on a bigger tank but I don't want one that is the same I have.
I was going to get a bigger tank from a local paper but they all seem to be salt water tanks or don't have a cove!!!!

go figure?!

My 55 gallon came from Roe Aquarium, a mom and pop store here. Look at nnnnnn. They sell a 55 gallon set up for a hundred something. I believe they also have a stand too, it's black "wood".

I got my 29g at pet supermarket for 40 bucks. They had 75g tanks for 140, and 75g stands (finished pine) for 110. The stand for my 29g was 70 bucks, I like it so far, but I've only had it setup for like 2.5 weeks.
These are just prices on the tank itself though. No extras like hood or lighting, I don't know prices on the kits too much because I was looking at tanks to plant them, and needed different lighting and such.
Petsmart had ok prices on tanks, but only offers them with the hood and lighting. Petland has TERRIBLE prices on tanks. Petco was about the same as Petsmart. Local places I find tend to be in between. They had a very nice 75g/stand/canopy at my local fish store for like 450 bucks total, was a dark finished wood, man it was pretty, I wanted it so bad lol.

In terms of stores located in Canada:
Little Critters is really over priced on everything
I got my stuff at Petsmart, price was ok
I didn't see many large tanks on sale at Super Pet (I think Super Pet is only found in Canada, may be wrong), but I wasn't really looking when I went.
Big Al's seems to be about the same price range as Petsmart.

PetSmart, Wal Mart and Petco had some really good deals for 55 and 75 gallons. The kits for the 55 can be a really good deal. And I found the "black oak" stand at Wal Mart very reasonable (like only 170 dollars).
Shop around, you can find really good deals that way.

POLLUCK - do you mind me asking where you live in Canada??
I got my tanks from Petsmart as well.. the one in my area is super cheap..
We have a Big Al's in my area too, but the fish's fins are always clamped and the tanks/stands seem pretty pricy...
Must depend on your area!

If you live in the vancouver area, king ed pet store is significantly cheaper than big als, go cheap it out! I got a 72 gallon bowfront with glass top, strip light, and very nice finished oak stand for $600 dollars.

B) Petsmart has 55's for $99.99 including hoods w/ lights. and you can get a double metal stand at www.drsfostersmith.com for $69.99 or $59.99 I forget, but then you can put another big tank on the bottom. I prefer a 40 long or 33 long on the bottom. This way with the 2 tanks (55 + 40) you have 95 gallons to stock with beautiful Golds!!!! Just a thought.

I live in Los Angeles so the best used stuff comes from the Recycler Classifieds. They’re on the web check out the deals for yourself.
http://recycler.com/ I got my 100 gal show tank from it for 200 bucks. It came with a oak stand, glass top, light hood, two Magnum 350 filters, Rena Air 400, two power heads, and a bunch of miscellaneous odds and ends.
Later, I also got a 10 gal & 20 gal (no extras) for 20 bucks. Used but no one would ever know, and you can’t beat the price.
