Here's how to make a resting area or hiding hole for your fish:

1. Get a yogurt cup a size you think your fish would be comfortable in (make sure the cup is hard, eg. plastic not cardboard) and eat the yogurt in it.

2. Wash the excess yogurt from the pot and peel off the label and sell by date.

3. Put the cup in boiling water for until the water cools down.

4. Put it in the tank.

Make sure you wash the cup and get out any fish waste etc. in it every week.

I did this with the betta cups from work when I first set my tank up and had my crayfish in it. I burried the cups in the gravel so it was little caves wink.gif My crayfish loved it!

I did this in my betta tank so my two AFD frogs had a place to hide. They seem to love it!

OH OH OH! good idea to make this even better! ok. first, eat the yogurt, like you said. then use a knife to cut holes in it, so if it was sitting upside down, the fish could still swim through it. cut it however you like. then use NON TOXIC POLYMER CLAY (make sure its NON TOXIC VERY IMPORTANT!!!) in what ever color(s) you choose, and then spread it in clumps, bits, peices, what ever you like, ALL over it (so that even the inside is completely covered. and then bake it. and let cool. and put in! one downer tho- i havent tried this yet so im not sure how the plastic would hold up, being inside the oven and all. i'll have to try soon and report back.

do u think you could use some sort of sealant like for aquariums to glue gravel onto the outside to make it look like a rock cave?
Myaj
Yep, you can definately use aquarium sealant, epoxy (tank safe) and 100% silicone caulking or a product called "Goop" glue to safely attach gravel to the outside of it.

I would stay away from styrofoam unless you are going to completely seal it up with something. I think it is made with things that can release into the tank. Lots of people have made decorations and backgrounds out of foam though, they just epoxy over it to seal it.
