Does anyone know why the LFS charge twice the price for Koi with black stops on them. Are they a rare breed or something?

I don't know what the LFS is? If the koi are of top quality they are going to go for a lot more than those that aren't. Meaning, if they come from a reputable breeder from Japan, and if the markings are uniform and of interest. The colors are crisp etc....

All colors at my local pet shop cost 9$ + tax
these are for the 3 to 5 inch koi.

Scott, LFS is the short cut for Local Fish Store, and I seriously doubt you will ever find any high quality koi in any of them....
Larry, its probably a price that the store feels is best to sell the fish, maybe they THINK they got a better koi than the other colors. But the koi I have seen in most pet stores are the runts that the breeder and collectors don't want. Not that they are not beautiful in the eye of the owner, if you just shop for color, but most serious collectors will not find anything there they like...
