I was wondering how you can tell by any goldfish if they are either female or male ?

Is anyone going to help me or am i just going put my hand in the tank and find out my self ? lol j/king

Ah ok, didn't know about that lovely_goldfish. I would have asked "How would you know if your gf is male or female", to be completely safe

Anyway I can't usually tell by the claudal fin thickness whether they are male or female. At the moment I am using the innie-outie rule...but if I were to do that, all my goldies will be female! (bad eyesight on my part ) But I noticed one of them is not thattt much of an outie, so I reckon it's male. Oh...and you cannot tell the male/female difference when they have poo right?

looking at the breeding star is a
dead give away for a male fishy
then you can kind of compare to
find out which fish are female

I still can't tell the difference in my fish - I guess if I have babies in the tank I will know I have at least one of each!

Hmm maybe you cant tell the diff because of your goldfishes age ?
maybe it hasnt gotten to that age to show it ? (just a thought)

I t hink they are old enough. They just won't stay still long enough for me to check them out. I have never seen breeding stars so maybe they are all female. Who knows.....if I ever have babies I guess I can figure it I have at least one of each.
