I just recently added a new Dojo Loach to my tank. I had one other one already.

But here is the thing. This guy is very tiny....maybe half or less the size of the other loach.

My other loach just eats anything I give the GF. I got some sinking wafers for him, but stopped because one of my GF would suck it into his mouth.....and it was kinda big.

But this new loach is so small and doesn't seem to eat the GF pellets...just swims over them. My GF are such hogs that my other loach has learned to eat fast, so it seems.

So any advice on what to feed this little guy? How do I make him be able to get what he needs without the GF taking his food?

THANKS!!

My loaches are known to eat anything, blood worms, tubiflex, fish flakes, algae wafers, shrimp pellets, etc. Maybe try feeding the loaches at night after you turn the lights off and put your goldies to bed. Your little one may get a better chance eating then. biggrin.gif

The weird thing is the little guy swims right over the pellet food. Don't know if he doesn't like them, or just not a good smell yet.

My GF seem to race to food, even with lights out and them sleeping.

But I will keep trying.

Try a smaller pellet maybe. When I first got my loach, he could not eat the bigger pellets. I fed him Hikari Gold baby pellets. They are floating pellets, so I had to soak them and then sqeeze them to get them to sink.

you could try this:

if you dont have one already, put a small cavelike ornament on the bottom. one that is too big for the goldies to get into. then, every time you go to feed, make sure to put some food in the cave (sinking pellets). this should let him try out the food in a place that he wont get run over and itll give it a peaceful place to rest as well.

things that my dojos eat and loooove:

frozen bloodworms
cooked peas
cooked broccoli
algae wafers
flakes
pellets
crumbles
shrimp meat
crab meat

hope this helps! biggrin.gif
