Sure, Alexander, here it is.....
Its a 160 gl tub, filtered by a small Fishmate filter, there is a Papyrus plant in the pond, as well as a parrot feather (thats the one creeping slowly all over the surface), and a floating cork for the turtles to get their daily sun bath. smile.gif

Thank you so mutch,Did you get the tub from homedepot?
or another store?Or did you get one off a farm if im not
mistaken i think they sell some off farms.
I have 2 painted turtles do you think this will be enough place for
them? i am going to be putting some minnows in the pond as
well.
Ranchugirl
Sure, 160 gl should be plenty for a pair of painted turtles. I get my tubs from Aquaticeco.com, an aquatic store 45 min away from me, but you could probably get those rubbermaid feeding throughs at farm stores. They come in different sizes as well. Here is the store I got my 300 gl tubs from, but they also come in smaller sizes....

Thanks,i think im going to buy one off the net after i
move. One more Question,Is there a type of filter that i would
need like anything special or could i use a normal
160 gallon Aquarium filter?
Ranchugirl
I think any filter thats adequate for the size tank you are using should be fine. I would probably go with the same rule as for goldfish, since turtles are messy creatures as well. You know, on a 20 gl tank having a filter that filters 10 times as much....smile.gif
Turtles are fun, aren't they?

tongue.gif very great pets! im planing on getting another one
anything you would suggest me on getting?
Ranchugirl
Well, there are quite a few options.....Get something that doesn't get too huge, so a Florida softshell would be out of the question. That turtle can pack 1 foot in diameter easily....
Maybe a RedEar slider, Mississippi map, or yellow bellied, maybe a Musk? They are all equally inexpensive, don't get too big and are not that fragile, they can take a few mishaps. And they all should get along with your Painted fairly well....smile.gif

Thats neat, Deb! 14 years old, wow! I guess he is still a teenager then, or do they not get as old as tortoises can?
Black oranda

I have a painted turtle that I've had for well over 10 years. Most species of paiteds stay kinda small and I think they live about 20-25 years, but don't quote me on that. I had a red eared slider that grew to almost 12 inches long, no lie. I put her in a 55 gallon tank and she tripled the size of painted turtle in less than a year. I had to give her away to someone that had a pond...I mailed her to Columbus, Oh from Pittsburgh, PA! If you're looking for small, I wouldn't get a red eared! My turtle would love that tub! By the way, do you guys ever see aquatic turtles in petstores any more? They're illegal to sell in Pennsylvania.
Ranchugirl
Heather, I do see them here in stores (Florida), but they come with the warning that they are for educational purposes only, as long as they are under 4 inches. But I prefer to buy them at shows from reputable breeders. Luck will have it that there are quite a few shows around here...smile.gif

I have enough mouths to feed blink.gif thank god there aren't too many shows around here! These pets are so addictive! I need to live on a farm, I swear. rofl3.gif
