I just got 2 black moors! I have them in a tank with 2 orandas right now. I know one moor is female and the other is male because one is chaseing the other. I want to breed them, is it ok to have the orandas in the tank when the moors are mateing? And how many gallons do about 50-100 fry need for there first month of life? Any help will be nice!

if you want the fry to be all black moores than
you should remove the oranda
because the orandas will probably try and mate with the moore
but im not sure if this is a good idea
because the fry could end up with many defects
im not sure about the tank size but you probably know that
that need heaps of room because they will grow quiet fast

A ten gallon tank would work for the first several months.

Start the tank cycling with a product call "Cycle" manufactured by Nutrafin or other similar product. You can cycle a tank in a little as 10 days. Remember to remove carbon filtration when using such products.

Until then change water often and monitor the ammonia and nitrite.

After the tank is cycled, monitor the nitrate level. Keep the nitrate level below 20ppm by water changes.

When you get to the point where you have to change water every few day to control the nitrate level, then it's time for a bigger tank.
