So.. I have a guppy tank, and my friend had to go into Central Queensland for a while, so i said i'd look after her fish, having experience n all. And she has this crayfish (got no idea what type but it has red and blue jabber claws). I'm also moving out on Saturday so i had to put the fishes in some big plastic bins in the garage (coz my partner made it so they would clean the carpets a day before we left.. good one..).

So the journey begins...

Mr Angry Pants Crab Man (as i have affectionately named him) loved his home.. he had a big rock and a U shaped rock thing to hide under. All was well in Guppyville. Being in the garage they needed artificial light. So I went down to turn the light off for the night and low and behold he wasn't there.. i thought to myself.. naa hes just hiding under his rock.. but alas, he was not there! So then i'm like "oh *profanity profanity* i'm never gonna find him!" My garage at the time is full of bags of clothes and other stuff we'd already packed up.

My immediate thought was he'd crawled under the garage door (which was big enough for him to do so), so i went outside to search with my handy torch, but to no avail.. My partner was searchin inside the garage, also to no avail.. I then checked that the human door (at the other end of the garage mind you!) was too small for him to get out.. "I'm sure he cant of gotten out of that, the door is nearly flush with the ground!" But i decided to check anyways seeing as all else had failed.

Off i search down the alleyway of doom to a visous 4 lane busy road. Then i see a small figure.. kinda like a leaf.. get closer and there he was, walkin down that way like it was the best thing in the world.. For a min i just watched him walking.. like he didn't even need water! This was one crab on a mission let me tell you! He had walked approxamently 30m or more all by his lonesome, out of water.. I was shocked, but relieved seeing as it was my friends prized possesion.

So i bring him home, covered in fluff and disgruntled that we took him away from his voyage to the road of doom. But now all happy and hungry back in Guppyville. I wonder which guppy he'll eat tonight.....

LOL!! I cant believe he made it all that way! They actually can live out of water though not for very long. Crabs and crayfish are excellent escape artists and can climb very well and squeeze through small holes. You should try to block any open areas in the hood. You can use cut pieces of plastic (Ive used craft mesh and even milk cartons) taped into place with heavy tape. That way you wont have to worry about him running off!

I once read a story off another forum for misc discussion where a lobster or crayfish was mentioned.. that one must have been watching Cliff Hanger for it was found hanging off the metal grill of the backyard door.. lol.GIF what a way to describe their action.. first is Finding Nemo and that reminds me of the cliff hanger..

biggrin.gif That story is too funny! I have often thought of setting up a tank part land/part water with crabs, frogs etc. and somehow I end up just doing fish. My problem is that I want 1 fish tank of everything!!! A goldie tank, tropical tank, angelfish tank, chiclid tank,etc......
