Hello everyone, I'm very new to this board but I really need some help. My goldfish, Frizzle, is obviously very sick. cry3.gif His color has seemed to fade over the last week or so, and he is moving rather sluggishly. Yesterday, I noticed that he had a large, dark red/orange spot on one side. That has seemed to heal today, but now on his other side there is a white object portruding from his side. It doesnt really look like a parasite, it looks like it is just coming out his side. I realize that I am pretty ignorant about these things, since Frizzle is my first goldfish. I didnt know until yesterday when I did research that there were so many diseases out there that could affect him. Can someone please, please help we out with a diagnosis and/or treatment that I could use to help make him better. Thank you SO much, in advance.

Amy

If, in addition to posting a response, could you please e-mail it to sodapopzt7@aol.com that would be wonderful. Thanks again :goldfish

Have you tested your water parameters? They would really help in trying to figure out what's wrong.

The faded color might be related to pH problems, or a pH crash. This might be a contributing factor to the goldfish getting ill. Is it possible for you to post a picture of the white object?

If you select "Track This Topic" at the top of the page, the message board will send you an email whenever someone replies.

im sorry that your goldie seems to be under the weather. unsure.gif

if you could answer all of the questions from the red box above, we would be better able to help you come up with a diagnosis. try to be as clear and concise as you can. also, if you dont have any test kits for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate, you can take a cup of water to your local fish store and they should test it for you. [B]make sure to write down the actual numbers on the tests so that you can post back here with the results.

post back soon! wav.gif
