Hi,
Most of my fry have now hatched and are all in a 5 gallon tank - Idont have a filter in there yet but have a small airstone gently bubbling. Is this enough?? he water is about 3 inches deep and tereare about 50 or 60 fry mostly stuck to the tank sides and on a fake plant from which the eggs hatched.
I wnt to an aqarium today and bought some Liquify NO1 fry food (liquid) and put a few drops in the water as I saw a few fry starting to swim a little - is this safe to ad food now??
I do have a spare fluval 1 filter - should I add it? Do I need to add more water at this stage? The room is quite warm - do I need to have a constant light on the tank or are the ok in the dark at night?
Some eggs are still in the tank that havent hatched but dont look fungused or anything - di i leave them there?
All help on this will be appreciated - Thanks

So, they started hatchin, hm, thats wonderful!
I would get the water up a few more inches, but not more than 6 inches. The airstone can only bubble REALLY slow, otherwise the current bothers them too much. I don't know anything about a Fluval filter, but the most gentle method of filtration right now is a sponge filter. You can get the smallest one, suitable for a 10 gl tank I believe, for a few bucks at the petstore, and connect it to the airline tubing where the airstone is hanging on now. It still will give off bubbles, and with a valve it should be regulated to not more than 1 bubble per second.
Liquifry is good, but I wouldn't feed them the first 1-2 days after they are free swimming. They are still feeding off their eggsacs, and if you have a magnifying glass, go have a look. When you drop in the liquifry, see if they are actually eating. Some are earlier developers than others.
One drop of the liquid food is plenty for all the fry, there are 100s of tiny little food particles in just one drop. Too much of the food, and it will take a toll on the water quality.
I wouldn't leave on the light at night, as long as the room temperature doesn't drop drastically over night, they should be fine.
Give the unhatched eggs a few more days and see if they will come around....
Great that the fishes eggs were all fertilized!! :rbanana

Way to go Spacebux! You guys at KoKo's make goldfish breeding sound so easy! It's amazing to me,because I always thought goldfish were one of the harder fish .You'll have to post pics of the new babies soon!

Good Luck to you

congrats! I use a fluval, a tiny one, for my babies, and have since they were specks, but i put it inside the end of a stocking, and closed the end off, at the top around the cord witha rubberband. The filtration is pretty good, and it kept the fry from being sucked into the filter.
