Hi I noticed my loach (Hong kong i think) has cottony fungus and Ich on it. I bought a treatment which said half the dose for loaches. The fungus doesn't seem to be getting better. Should I increase the dose? The goldfish in the tank are OK and I quarantined two apple snails b4 treating.
Should I quarantine the loach instead?

im guessing so,did you add any salt yet?

Hi Black Oranda How much salt should I add per UK gallon? Is salt the best treatment? Do you think I should put the loach in quarantine?

How many days have you been treating with the medication? How long does it say to treat with.

What is the medication called?

Generally Loaches don't do to well with salt, although I have had my Dojo in a 0.3% salt concentration 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons US.

I would be VERY careful adding salt though, or upping the dosage of meds. I am not entirely sure what you should do. I would like to hear what meds you are using first.

If you do decide to go ahead and do either of the above, I'd stand by with a bucket of temperature matched, dechlorinated water, ready to pull your loach out of the tank if he starts rolling.

Good luck, and I hope your loach is feeling better soon

Hi all Unfortunately my loach died but the fungus cleared off it. I think I may have overfed it by accident as he had a lump on his side and I could see his stomach turned black.
