My English is not so good. I try to explain clearly. Saturday morning after I feed my goldfishes, I found some of goldfish are chasing each other, and male red head has abvously small white stars on its chest fins, it was continuing to use its head the rush the female red head's abdomen. So I think it is the right time to do the artificial fertilization.

I washed my hand before did the operation. Found the big bowl and caught the couple out in it with the water took from the tank. And another small glass bowl for egges.

First, I took the female one hold it as the picture:

it is important to hold your goldfish tightly and softly, its back fully in your palm, and use the thumb, index finger and middle finger to hold the root of its tail to avoid its moving. Thand use the thumb and index finger of right hand to do the extrusion on its abdomen from the position above its chest fins to end of it abdomen, repeat the action of right hand several times till I thought all the egges are out, note 'DO IT SOFTLY AND AS RAPID AS POSSIBLE'.

Then do the same procedure to the male one to get the semen direct on the eggs. Then shake the glass bowl as soon as possible, because the semen have only one miniute life in the water. If you get another one help you to shake the bowl when you get the semen, it shoud be better.

At last, wait around 5 mins; get some water from the tank to wash the eggs, then I put the small bowl covered by a net into the tank.

It is importnat to use the water from your tank, do not use any tap water in the procedure.

That's all, I foresee I will get the babies in this weekend.

Thanks Drunkfish. Can you let us know how it turn's out? I'd be very interested since I'm getting fish in a couple of weeks that may need help breeding. Thanks! smile.gif
