i was wondering if i could put a betta in with my 3" bubble eyes. theyre too blind to nibble at its fins. baby has survived this far and he could have been swallowed whole if they werent so blind. the water is heated to about 76-8 degrees so would this work?

bettas should never be put with goldfish.
the betta would be running at the poor thing all the time
they arn't the best fish to put with a betta.
Tropical comunity tanks are fine, and they don't mind adf;s or
snails......

Amy, I would be careful with that. The betta, especially the male, can do great damage to a goldies fins, especially with something so slow moving and vision handicapped than a bubble eye. Unless you have some sort of divider, thats something else - company for the betta, but not within reach!

For some reason i find that a 2 gallon tank or jar would be
better then a tub floating around.....????

Bettas don't like the current too much, and a floating tub would just drift the betta through the tank without any way for him to escape that. If you could turn down the current in the tank, it sounds okay. Does the tub have holes, so the betta can benefit from the filtration in the tank?
There are those great plastic containers out there with holes, I got mine from the 99 cent store. They do great for such a purpose...

they dont have holes in but i could drill some in. i did that with the seperator so ive had some practice and making the holes smooth etc. there is a bar in the middle of my tank i could detatch the handle from my tub and put the handle over it and put that there hanging in the water. the seperator is diagonal so it could work. ill experiment with it tomorrow.

My suggestion, don't even think about it. I placed a divider in my tank before to hold 1 male betta. That worked kinda well, but once the goldfishes would come close to the divider to look at the betta, my male betta would go nuts! He'd get really intimidated and would open his fins wide.
One time, when i was cleaning the tank, i accidentally bumped the divider and it moved ever so slightly to one side making a small opening on the other for my betta to pass through. Once my betta saw his opportunity, he immediately swam after my GF! Good thing i had a net beside me to catch me or else my gf would be dead!
