One of my zebra danios has this weird growth on its chin, where the gills end. The fish is white, and the growth is the same shade of pink as the gills are. It doesnt look external, but its pretty large- big enough to make the fish's head look like a square.
Since I got home a while ago, dont have any idea what the waters been like, its okay now tho. The last time I was here one of them died of dropsy...no idea what caused it- it happened overnight. Also, my snail ate the fish..so if it was an infection, would it still be in the tank ??
Set-up is as follows-
Twenty gal tank, with three baby goldies ( all less than four inches), an apple snail, now only four danios ( there used to be six), and a plant.
They're getting a bigger tank soon...please dont tell me they're overcrowded, I know they are, but its a little bit, and its only another week or two..

Hi Jyoti
Can you post a pic of the growth? It's difficult to say what it might be without seeing it.

Is the fish eating and swimming normally?

No cam

But the fish isnt eating too well/ Or its just growing thinner... ?? Its definitely trying to eat, dont know if its getting less than it was before ( Dont know what it ate before )
Its not swimming too well, it keeps listing over slightly, kind of like someone is blowing on it and making it sway. Not very noticeable though- its only if you look closely..
(Sorry about the lack of the pic, but well...if the choice was a cam or a bigger tank, which would you take ?)

It might possibly be a tumor. Ive seen weird growths like that on fish before. If the fish can no longer eat and isnt swimming too well you may want to just put it down.

It most likely isnt an infection; although if you have had dropsy it is possible that it is some sort of internal problem. If it isnt red at all its probably not bacterial. How long have you had the danios?
Also if it were between a camera and a bigger tank of course Id take the tank! LOL
BTW nice to see you back on here.
