Hi everyone...when I went to my lsf yesterday to ask about constipation/SBD, they say that they use duckweed as a laxative which seems to work wonders (for them). Since I have not seen this here so far...thought I might ask if anyone has tried this and recommends this? In addition to peas and daphnia of course. I've read so many difficulties ppl have with stomach related problems sad.gif It'd be great if we can find out more options to use. Hope this helps.

Yes duckweed does seem to give a mild laxative effect (and goldies enjoy eating it).

If you're trying to treat a constipated fish however, it is always best to fast it for at least a day or two first before giving peas / duckweed. smile.gif

almost every vegetation introduce laxative and some plant are extremely effective.. but by far from my experience, Peas are more effective.. I never seen my fishes clear their bowel as much with peas than with anything else...

but some fishes does not eat as much as the others.. to be very effective, I have to modify what I wrote previously with my new practise - skip breakfast (meaning fast in the morning) and feed them Peas for dinner.. you will see them RUSHING to finish up the Peas and soon they will Poop.. clean up the tank 2 hours later or upon sighting of poop that is as green as pea.. and lastly, fast them the next day...

cheers
