I saw the picture you have up of fin rot and its really blurry and I know if I were looking to see what it was I wouldn't be able to tell byt it. And my fish tank underwent a massive case of finrot in december so Now that I learned I want to help other people not to make the same mistake that I did. Two of my goldfish died from this. Two lived although one of the survivors died of an unrelated cause a few weeks ago. And the black moor is still alive, but I showed koko him before and hes having some problems too, not major... i think.
So here are some pictures of extreemley set in fin rot. I know I'm horrible for letting it get like this. But either way it shows that two of my fish lived through this and were healed fairly quickly. I think the only one that survived out of these was the black moor. I never took a picture of the other one. I used Marcyrin II I think.. Somthing that was called marcyrin and it says its for fin rot. For the two that got better, they got better extreemly quick.

Sure, I want this to help as many people as possible smile.gif I always see blurry, or unclear pictures of diseases online and I know it would make it a lot easier for me to diagnose somthing with a clear picture so I'm sure it will make it easier for others too

Oh, what perfect pictures. I wish I'd have seen those a fortnight back. That is exactly the way Tango began her demise. It took me a while to realise what I was treating, and by that time - It was too late in my opinion.

It's a real shame to see a fishy like that, especially knowing what it can do to them - but it'll serve as a great diagnostic tool for others.

Hope the Black Moor is still ok!

Hi! Hope it's not too late to ask a question about these pics. Do your fish have just fin rot or is the white stuff a parasite/flukes thing in addition? It's just I was going through problems with my fishy's tail looking torn/ shredded and red splotches not quite as bad as the ones on your babies. Since then and under much advice I believe it was symptomatic of septicaemia which can be confused with fin rot. These pictures are a very good tool differentiating between the two problems for newbies like myself. There is so much info on the site unfortunately I didn't see these pics till today. I used a different med and my fish still has shredded fins although appears to have recuperated in all other ways. How long till their fins healed? Hope your babies are still doing Ok! It's distressing when they are sick. My two fish have been friends for 10 years and lately I have seen the one that didn't have problems attempting to nibble of the other for the first time in their relationship. They'll be in seperate tanks soon so that'll fix 'em. <_< From Fi X

Hey, sorry about not responding I haven't been on in a while. Anyway, I hope your fish is better byu now but If It isn't I would reccomend using Marcaryn II Its for fin rot and a few other things so mabye my fish didn't have finrot and it was really just one of the other things it treated ya know? But I'm pretty sure it was finrot. I'm not sure exactly how long it took to cure but I know I was surprised at how quick it was. I think I used two treatments since the first didn't completely work, but each treatment is about 5 days I think. I would definately reccomend this medicine it worked perfectly for my fish.

To me it looks like those fish in those pictures the following:
Dropsy (1st pic, pineconening), bacterial body 'fungus', sceptecemia, ich (fantail), and the black moor is shedding his slimecoat (baaad sign).

Those are everything BUT finrot, definately bacterial (except ich & slimecoat). How did that happen??? sad.gif ill.gif
