Hubby was going to buy me flowers and take me out on my birthday. Then thought that I would like a fish better than flowers.

So we drove to the lfs in the next town. They had NO goldfish. Everyone of them were sold. Even the feeders!! They usually have tons of goldfish. I mean tons.

The bettas they had were blah. They had a few deltas but their colours were blah.

So we drove to the city. I found an absolutely gorgeous shubunikin and I turned around and came face to face with a white betta. Double

The girl told me that she was really suprised that the white betta was still there, because you never see white ones (at least not here!) And she was eyeing it up I got him though.

His name is sugar, and I do have pictures!! I will post them in this thread in a little bit. I have some tanks to clean!

Delta tailA delta tail is a different type of tail I guess. I've never seen one in a pet store here. They only have the veil tails around here. Although I did see crown tail at the store I that I found Sugar at. I think the stores don't stock them as much, because they are about $10 as opposed to the regular $5 and most people buying bettas are buying them for decor, so they buy the cheapies

I would love to have different types, but out of the 4 bettas I have, only one has really good colour, so I want to wait and find some fabulous ones heehee. The "special" ones at the store had blah colouring.

Ohhh now i get it lol. So marley is a veiltail! Thts cool to know. I don't think I like the delta tail. I do like the pin tail and the crown tail though! I should try to find one

I think that is great. What woman wants flowers and dinners anyway. Boring

BTW, congratulations on Sugar. You know the thing that gets me about bettas. They don't show their true colours in those horrid cups. Some of the blah colours may turn out to be fabulous, but who is to know? When I bought Jasper, he was a drab grey colour. I bought him because I felt sorry for him. He was my New Year's Eve present from my husband (see no champagne or parties for me). My husband looked at him and said "You bought a grey betta". When I got him home, he turned into the most stunning lavender red colour. Such an amazing change

I still like white betta's and my las one died some time ago but I just now went to a pet store and got a female white betta. It's cool looking. They had 5 other white ones but I saw her with her bit up tail so I got her.......

SOOOO TURE...... I mean I like flowers but the dinners are boring to me. I love to get pets if I could or anime.....

TouchofSky I got a fish for New Years too Ping the white koi was my new years present.

I hate how the colours don't show very well. Death Head was very drab as well. And Rainbow is a lot brighter now too.

I should go and get a few more and document the change
