Hi, my daughters were shopping at nnnnnn a few months ago and looked at the fishtanks, of course, they looked terrible, fish had obvious Ick, tanks were dirty, dead fish laying in them.
So, they asked for the store manager, and complained to him that the tanks look terrible, there were dead fish, the conditions are not healthy for the fish and "how much are the people in this department trained?" The manager fumbled, and told them he would take care of the sick Ick fish right away, and looked for the medication. My daughters had to tell him WHICH medication to use and how to use it!
He also told them that the ill looking fish were most likely sick fish customers sometimes bring into nnnnnn and drop into their tanks! what the heck?!
Is he serious? do people really do something that nasty with their fish?
They were disgusted, we wrote to Walmarts corporate office and heard no reply about the bad state their fish department is always in. No matter which nnnnnn you visit in our state, they are all terrible! the employees have no clue how to take care of the fish.
My mom works at one, is a big animal lover and is sickened and upset about the treatment. They are handled very roughly when they come to the store dumped into tanks, she said customers even pick fish out, they are bagged, and she or an employee will find the fish sitting in a bag on a shelf or in the front part of the cart being jostled around! Or small kids swinging them all over as they walk thru the store. She makes comments, tries to educate who works in the fish area, but the customers are the worst sometimes!
people are so cruel sometimes. breaks our hearts. My mom rescued a large Plecostomus last year after a woman who is a co-worker brought him in carrying him in a bucket from home, crying that her husband was going to harm or kill him, he hated the Pleco... She thought someone might buy him there, but Mom took him home right away and he is happy and spoiled living in her 60 gallon tank ALL by himself! he's about 9" long now...
