Is it safe to give them bread even if it's really small pieces?

It's not good to feed your goldfish bread because their digestive systems don't deal well with carbohydrates (the same goes for potato, rice, cracker or biscuit crumbs). Feeding a little bread as a small treat very very occasionally is OK, but no more than that.

make sure the bread is whole wheat, white bread lacks nutrition. in fish farms carp get bread all the time

Will the bread that we consume cause cloudy water or create a layer of oil? Those bread sold at fish shops are normally dry and crispy.

If you want to give your goldfish a treat why not use something like peas or bloodworms? Goldies love these and they are much more healthful for them than bread.

Don't feed them bread ever. There are many other alternatives too use as a treat. Bread will do nothing for your fish but make it fat.

Carbs add weight and Jetman is right all bread will do is make your fish fat, One problem to this is Fatty liver and its not a pretty thing to look at.
"No bread for you!"

Bread, I think, helps your fish get bloated.

yes. i agree. just as bread can make humans feel bloated and sluggish (i'm not necessarily a proponent of the Atkin's diet!), i'm sure that bread given to our fancy goldies wouldn't be a good idea. they do heart peas a lot, and gobble them up. tasty and nutritious! yummy.
i've been reading about feeding them hardboiled eggs too, and will i try that today.

It's fun to watch them gobble up bloodworms too. And it's really high on protien!

Freeze dried or frozen? Mine pretty much ignore the freeze dried, as do my bettas. I haven't tried the frozen ones yet, but I've heard they are much better.

Yeah, I use the freeze dried ones. My goldfish won't eat the freeze dried but my betta did, My betta died a few months ago

I've never tried the frozen ones though. I'll try the frozen ones next.
