What do all of you reccomend to use to make my bettas look their best? I used betta fix remedy by splendid betta (i think) On marley and it seemed to work good. But is there anything better? It seemed to fix his fins, but his boddy is still a cloudy blackish. Mabye thats just how he is lol but i wanna try to fix it.

Well something and the only product that i have
at the moment is "melaxfix" this is good for:

-Healing open wounds and uncers

-Rapidly restores damaged fins

-Stops mouth fungus[Flavobacterium(formerly called
Flexibacter]

-Treats eye cloud

-Does not affect ph.

-Safe for snails abd other invertebrates in fresh and
salt water Aquariums.

-Safe for live aquariu, plants

-Will not harm biological filter

bettafix is just diluted melafix. You do need to be careful using either product on bettas, some are sensitive to it. Unless he is behaving oddly, I would avoid trying to "fix" his body color.

stupid thing, double posted

I'll look for melafix. See the weird coloring on /Marley's face in my signature? Does tghat look like its just his color? Some bettas just have mean faces...and hes one of them.
touchofsky
I think that is just Marley's colouring. I have some bettas with that colouration on their faces.

As for Melafix, if you use it with bettas, use it at HALF of the recommended dose. So, if it is 1 teaspoon per 10 gallons regularly, use only 1/2 teaspoon for bettas.
celebr8monkeyday
Oh, well if you have to cut down the dose for bettas anyway I might as well just use bettafix lol.
Black oranda
That seems to be normal coloration so nothing
to worrie about smile.gif

One important thing, even with the bettafix, use half the suggested dose. The bettafix has 1/5th the active ingredient of melafix...and the suggested dose is 5 times as much...or exactly as much active ingredient. (the reason it is diluted is not b/c they are trying to rip you off, its b/c many bettas are kept in containers so small that dosing with melafix was hard b/c you would need so little)

I dont think betta fix is an antibacterial...I could be wrong
martinez14pr
yes, bettafix is an antibacterial medication (it's a diluted version of melafix)
celebr8monkeyday
Why would an antibacterial fix a ripped fin? If its not from bacteria that his fins are ripped...

It isn't really antibacterial, as in antibiotic, it's an irritant that causes the fish to produce extra slime coating, making the fish more resistant to pathogens, and in the case of wounds/splits, encourages the damaged cells to regenerate and heal.

It's also a great pick-me-up, and smells nice smile.gif

I've heard of melafix supposedly killing bettas..which caused quite a bit of panic, but I think that's completely unfounded. I've used melafix full strength (sometimes more, if I mess up!) on around 25 bettas, and I have the biggest, baddest healthiest bettas north of the border lol.GIF

yea, I think using betta fix regularly helps, so far it hasn't hurt marley one bit. He has actually been looking abnormaly hardy and healthy lately. lol.GIF
