ok, i have a pond outside. its been getting up to about 12 degrees c here (not sure about the water temp). when can i put my fancies in the pond? also, i have:
an oranda
a pearlscale
a telescope/fantail
a lionchu
a 1 inch common (he'd get eaten alive though)
and 3 bubble eyes (i know theyre out of the question)
who would i be able to put in the pond? they would be with things like commons and shubs and orfes. what would you suggest?
thanks for your help

I would think your oranda would be ok, you'd just have to watch and make sure he gets enough to eat against your bigger and faster guys. I would say any fish with special eye needs is out of the question (no moores, telescopes, bubbles).
I would think your lionchu would be ok too, but less certain on him.
all in all, you'll probably want to wait to see what soemone with more experience has to say......

the bubble eye, pearlscale and telescope shouldnt be placed in a pond
im not sure about black moores because my friend have one in a
pond that got to abou 0 degrees C and it was fine
if you are going to add a lot of plants the one inch
comet should do fine

I have a red cap oranda in my small pond (~180gal). It seems to be doing fine. But then again today is only the third day for him. I am in California and lowest water temp I recorded was around 53F. Water temp is about 7-10 Degress cooler.

I would put all these fish in a pond but not the
bubble eyes. Telescope eyes can live very well in ponds.
And i heard that pearscales as well can be hold in a
pond. You just need to keep a close eye on them.

In my pond I have the following:
-Koi, Shubunkins and comets in one side. They can stay in all winter but I brought them in this year.
-Oranda's Lionheads, Ryunkins and comets in the other side. I bring them in when is starts getting cool at night (which is usually in september here in NY).
I wouldn't put Bubble Eye's in a pond. Good luck.

If im not mistaken i remember some one off the
board saying that she/he keeps black moors
in ponds.they seem to do well in ponds and are
pretty hardy fish.
