Yes, my first betta, whom I named King after much thought, died today. I had the water tested when he wouldn't eat, and he never really did eat ( two pellets in the week I had him, and that was while he was still in his pet store cup before I put him in the 2 gal. tank). This morning, at arounf 7am, I noticed that his belly was really big for a fish that never ate, then he dies this afternoon. I plan on buying a new one in a few days after I get the tank cleaned out and going again from the pet store I trust, not nooppee (never again).

Poor little guy! I'm so sorry you lost him. King probably just had a bad case of nnnnnn-itis, and you will do fine with the next one.

No, that's what was so strange about the whole thing. He wasn't eating, but he seemed ok. I went ot sleep about 1am, turning of my light then. Before I turned out my light, I looked in on King, and he was fine (belly not swollen). I woke up early, at about 7am, and his poor little belly was huge, and he was just sitting on on of the leaves. I had a goldie die of dropsy a couple of years ago, and it was very slow and painful to watch. This seemed to happen overnight. I just don't understand!

Anyway, no new betta yet. The store I really like didn't get their fish shippment this week, so I've decided to wait. Want to give the tank a really good cleaning before I put anyone else in there, in case whatever killed King is still in there.

Aw, I'm really sorry to hear about King.

I'm sure you'll have better luck with your new pet. I've always wanted a betta too. Be sure to post up a picture so we can all get jealous!
