Hi all
until recently i've been feeding my moor and telescope with hikari pellets - which they always loved, along with weekly veggies, bloodworms etc...
however they recently started to share their tank with a plec and some cory's - although all are getting on absolutely fine, the GF became very fond of the wafer foods that the others ate.
its now reached a point where the GF no-longer come up for their food - if i put some in, they totally ignore it and i then have to fish it out. all they want to eat, in terms of convenience food is the sinking wafers that i have for the other tankmates - so i now have to put extra wafers in to keep the gF happy.
will this do them any harm - they still eat the other things i've mentioned above - just wont touch conventional GF food.
an interesting thing thou, is that my telescope when bought last november was a purple/blue colour. by january he was completely white apart from having retained dark blue circles around his eyes. he then started to turn orange in places.
however since he no-longer eats |GF food - the orange has stoppped developing - and is actually going back to white - i'm wondering whether this could be to do with the food change?
but main concern is whether supplying them with wafers generally is a problem for their health?
any ideas folks?

Pumpkin, no problem with the algae wafers. Goldfish love algae, and happily eat it away when its allowed to grow on the tank walls. Its part of their natural diet, is a bit of a laxative and enhances the fishes color....

Hmmm...maybe I should get some algae waffers for my big fantail who will not eat anything but algae off the side of the tank.

Your fish need protein too to be healthy, so make sure they are eating plenty of that as well and not just the algae.

thanks guys!
didn't get email alerts - didn't realise anyone had replied!!
thats a relief to know that the wafers are ok for them.
they do get frozen bloodworm also - and i do have some sinking pellets - but as they are telescope eyes they tend to not notice them, as there is some gravel on the tank base.
they do get bloodworm - which the cory's love also - its like watching a child eat spagetti, very funny.
i'll invest in some frozen shrimp also!
wish i hadn't bought the huge bag of hikari pellets tho B)
thanks for your advise folks!
