I've heard a lot of great things about Pro Gold and eventually I would like to try it out. Currently we are feeding our goldies Hikari flakes and pellets, and occassionally we feed them a special frozen Goldfish food that has veggies in it.

Our goldies are still quite small. I am currently feeding them the tiny tiny Hikari pellets because the regular sized pellets seemed to be too big for them to get into their mouths. One of my goldies can't even get the tiny pellets into his mouth, even though he tries to gobble it up. Flakes are much easier for him to eat.

So my question is this: Would the Pro Gold pellets be too big currently for my goldies to eat? Does Pro Gold have pellets that are tiny in size like Hikari?

Thank you for your help.

ProGold would be absolutely just fine for your little fish. When I got my little Moby he was barely 1/2 in total length - tail and all. He is about 3 inches now and he has only been growing since December.....!

When he was very small, I put a couple of ProGold pellets into a small bowl and crunched them with the back of a spoon. He could eat the smashed pellets. As he grew, I smashed them less and less, and now he is eating them whole like the little pig he is. The same goes for the Glodfish Connection's Spirilina flakes - they are "reconstituted" into flakes that hold together, so when you smash them in your fingers for the tiny fish, they still hold together in crumbs rather than go to dust. They, too, work well for the tiny ones. smile.gif

Also if you soak them for about a min they get soft enough for them to eat hun biggrin.gif

You can cut the bigger pieces into smaller ones. Here's
a pic to show the size of progold. smile.gif My two little babies
(2 inches long) eat progold.

even they are too big to fit into the mouth of smaller fishes, if well soaked, they small fishes are still able to nimble off what can be fitted into their mouth.. though this may mess up the water a bit comparing to bigger fishes that swallow the pellet whole..

frankly speaking, my fishes were smaller, but I am already feeding them pro gold and other food..

FOr Peas and other veg, you can't soak them so cut them into bite size for smaller fishes, otherwise they tend to lose out to those who can swallow food in whole..

Thank you everyone for all of your advice on ProGold. It sounds like a great food and I've heard so many wonderful things about it. I am definitly going to order some and try it out with my goldies. I am really big on good nutrition and feeding my pets the best food that you can buy, so ProGold sounds like the best food for my goldies.

Thank you again for all your help. wav.gif
