Well, I was going out to feed my fish in the pond this morning and guess what, My pond was drained down to about one inch of water. ohmy.gif It scared the heck out of me. I found a hole in my pond liner. My fish are all okay though. smile.gif I have them in my hospital tank right now because all of my other tanks are being treated for ick. I am just so glad that my fish are okay. 00001649.gif

Josh, what a shock that must have been! I can only imagine!! YOu are very lucky that just one fish died, they all could have been dead!! Still, its a very sad thing about the one....Its horrible! Which one was it?
I hate it when such unexpected things happen. I came home from a 3 day trip a few weeks back, and when I stepped out onto the patio where all the tubs are, I noticed that none of the filters were running! Same thing in the garage!! Some sort of electrical overload. I rearranged to have the filters and stuff running on differenct circuits now, and thank goodness that happened just on the day I got back home. Imagine the fish being 3 days with no filtration and more importantly, no air! Thud.gif
How big is your pond, JOsh? Any way to fix it?

gosh.. something similar happened to me once... the hose came loose from my filter canister and I came home looking at the wet floor and shock to see the tank is left with 1 inch of water..

luckily my fishes were still small then and not that big impact.. but I do learn a lesson here..

sorry to hear about your fish.. if only we can sue..

The one that died was one of my male black moors. His name was Bob. I loved him so much! cry3.gif
All I have to do to get my pond back up and working is to put a new pond liner in. I think I have an unused one in the attic. unsure.gif My pond will be all set up again in hopefully less than a week.

how did you get a hole in your liner? They have some super sticky pond liner fix tape that you could get. That might help?
Sorry to hear about the fish that died. sad.gif

Josh, I'm sorry about your pond and the fish. I had a slow leak in mine last year (not due to a hole though) and freaked when I got in the morning to find most of the water gone. I hope you can get it fixed pretty quick. One of the reasons I drain mine in the spring (other than to clean it out) is to check for holes. Being that we have such hard winters I never know how well the liner has survived.

So, the liner can wear out and thin over time then? What is it? the harsh winter conditions? Too much sun exposure? Rocks in the pond? huh.gif
jdude360
Well I think it got a hole in it because for some reason, my dog jumped in the pond. Thud.gif He has never jumped in the water before! I'm pretty sure that his fingernails put a hole in the pond liner. unsure.gif
Well anyway, I put a new liner in and filled my pond back up with water. I will put my fish back in the pond in about 3 days. That gives the pond time to evaporate all of the chlorine out of it. biggrin.gif Hopefully, my dog won't jump back into the pond. lol.GIF

oh, your dog! LOL well that explains it. My dog goes for a swim frequently. The fish don't mind, they like her. When my sisters dog comes to visit she loves to swim as well, but she likes to rip the plants apart sad.gif .

Anyhow, now we need a picture of the dog, if you don't mind? smile.gif I love dogs as much as fish, well maybe more?

Josh, I am sorry to hear about your fish. I hope that the rest of them pull though. Thank goodness that you found them in time.

Oh my god, hahaha this reminds me of an embarrassing moment.. I went over to a friend’s place with my golden retriever and while chatting, I heard a splash and a shriek outside the house… Well, I rushed out and saw a guilty looking dog inside the koi pond with the pond owner (friend’s dad) looking shocked and stunned standing by the pond..Gosh, to think I was there to date the girl and my dog spoils everything…

Well, I did train my dog later.. no command, no swim.. Once he misheard my command, thinking I would grant him permission to swim and he went ahead to dive.. the funniest things I saw was a frozen dog, rigid in mid-air knowing too late to do anything, falling into the pond outside my house..
