Have any of you used Melafix on your Betta's? I would be interested in hearing how it worked for your Betta.

Yeah, I read about some really bad problems with it on another forum. My Betta has something going on, on the side of his head. It's been there for several weeks now and doesn't seem to affect him but I thought I would try to fix it up and bought some Melafix but then read this caution about it. I tried it this morning. I did the right dosage but then Barney seemed to stay at the bottom of his house most of the time so I did a water change to get rid of what I had put in there.

Any ideas of what else I might try?? It's kind of a fungus looking thing on the side of his head.

One of my bettas had a super bad reaction to bettafix (a diluted version of melafix) and died to it. I had wanted to spawn him too because he was a nice super delta and I had a super delta female too...

Needless to say I no longer use bettafix/melafix for my bettas nor will I ever even think about it again.

Melafix/Betafix won't help with "a fungal looking thing" anyway. It does nothing for fungus or bacteria. At best, you can hope it helps heal uninfected torn fins and other minor injuries.

Sorry to be negative about something you'd tried... I tried it with goldfish too, and was disappointed.

I hope others have some helpful *positive* advice!
