Hi,

I'm a new fish owner and from advices of people and reading this site I'm feeding my fish floating pellates and freez dried brime shrimp twice a day and peas like twice a week and oranges like once a week.

Am I feeding my fish correctly???

I do have a problem with one of my fishes though. Everytime I feed it pellates it always end up floating in the water and has trouble diving. So I tried the peas remedy and it will be ok but as soon as I switch back to pellates then the problem starts again. Other fishys are fine. What should I do about the floaty one.

It sounds good, but I have a question for you biggrin.gif Do you soak your foods in tank water in a bowl before you give them to the fish?

Moody, you are basically doing well with the feeding of your fish, the only thing that pops into my mind is the pellet food. I would switch to the sinking kind of pellets, and soak them a minute or two before feeding it to the fish. That way the pellet expand while still outside the fish, and not inside of it, therefore blocking the already naturally twisted and twined intestines of the fish. Feeding dry pellets without soaking is one of the main reasons for the fish to develop swim bladder problems, like you are discribing with your fish.
By simply switching the pellets to a sinking variety and soaking that one, you can see your fish improve rather fast....smile.gif
There are many other foods available you can add to the diet. Here are some of them...

I soak the pellates in filtered water and pour it into the tank. Does that harm the fishes? the drinking water I mean. Sometimes even though I soak them in water that one fish will still float. And also when he poops i noticed it having air bubbles. very wierd.
