Anyone feed there fish house flys ?

Every once in a while I feed them flies.

I am sure that they would eat flies sometimes in their natural habitat. So, I wouldn't think that it would create any problems. But, I personally haven't fed them any live food.

Interesting question, I wonder that everyone else thinks.

The only problem with flies tho is that they harbour parasites (you've seen 'em hanging out on dog poop in the yard, and other discusting things, right?), so they aren't the best thing to be giving your fish. I've heard of people growing their own FRUIT flies for their lizards and stuff, maybe that'd be a healthier alternative.

I toss swatted houseflies in my tank every now and then, my fish love them.

seriously i tried this once
i fed my fish this green house fly
and my fish died the next day
since then i havent tried it again
those ####### fly's
not only do they habour diseases they killed one of my goldfish :angry:

that totally sucks slip..

but mine'd eat anything that landed in the tank, those gecko's better watch their babies!!

Feeding houseflies to goldies is not a problem providing the housflies are/or have NOT been killed/or sprayed by insecticide.

I am pretty sure the green ones are the ones that eat poop and rotting meat etc.

I wouldn't recommend feeding flies to your fish, for the health reason stated above. How do you know where every particular fly came from, unless its a home raised fruit fly....
Gives me a goose bump just thinking what other places those flies went! ....gross.....

flys eating poo thing is really convinces me not to
