I bought yet another betta. This boy is a twin tail. He is red and blue. I wasn't in the market for another betta, however, his cup was dirty and two little boys and their mother (who admitted to knowing nothing about fish and this was going to be a learning experience), were looking at him. I thought, poor little twin tail. So, I picked up his cup and bought him. I know that the children bought another fish, but at least little twin tail is home with me.

I have called him Gemini and I will post pictures soon.

LOL,we are all becomeing addicted rofl3.gif

I can't wait to see pictures Touch.I would have done the
samething i hate seeing kids that don't know
anything about fish and go ahead and buys one sad.gif

They had a little tank of about 3 gallons, and they were buying a small filter type thing for it. They were thinking of maybe three white clouds instead of a betta, so maybe they decided to buy the white clouds. I don't really know what they ended up doing. Anyway, I hope whatever little fish they bought can survive their learning experience.

they buy fish and don't know any thing about them

i hate seeing people buy living things in general and not knowing anything about them! <_< PICS!!!! I WANT PICS!!! Gemini is a cool name....what is a twin tail exactly?
touchofsky
Actually he is called a double tail, but I inadvertantly called him a twin tail. I guess I had Gemini on the brain biggrin.gif

Anyway, this little fellow has a tail that is split rather than one caudal fin. His anal fin is also split smile.gif
Black oranda
smile.gif what tank have you putted him in?
Lyndzi
Hmm, his anal fin is split? I'd definately watch out for rot, especially being in a dirty cup! Poor little guy. Is his dorsal the same size as his anal fin? That's a definate sign of a doubletail.

He is one lucky betta to find a good home, if he's gorgeous now, wait until he gets used to his new home! lol.GIF

I know about them being addicting.. I have 16 now.. blink.gif

16?! holy cow! youve got a lot of bettas! when do we get to see your pics! c'mon, quit holding out on us! happydance.gif
touchofsky
His tail is definitely a double tail and not a split tail from rot. You can tell by the shape of it and the way it comes out from his body. Also, the colour. He is red and blue, and his tail is red with blue trim and the blue trim goes around each of the separate caudal fins biggrin.gif

Right now he is in a small temporary tank, but tomorrow, I am going to divide a 5 gallon for him and Vanilla to share.
Ranchugirl
Okay, now that you have done the first step and come to this "meeting", lets here it from Touchofsky: "Hi, my name is Touchofsky, and I am an addict!" rofl3.gif

Congratulations on your new betta! I love the double tails, right next to the delta tails!! purpban.gif

lol.GIF I don't have to give up bettas, though, do I?

Gemini is now in his divided 5 gallon glass tank. I tried taking pictures whilst he was in the plexiglass container and they turned out terribly. So, tomorrow I will take some more pictures of him.

He loves his new home, BTW and looks very, very happy smile.gif

Yes, it is very cute, he has the double anal fin, the double caudal fin, and even little notches in both of his pectoral fins lol.GIF

oooh how exciting. i can't wait to see him. i loved vanilla...

and i know what you mean about little kids and their dumb parents buying fish when they know nothing. i literally followed this father and his boy and girl over to the goldie tank because i heard them talking about getting some. then i saw one of the most beautiful baby veiltails go into the baggie. ::Sigh:: they bought FOUR. now somehow I just KNOW that they don't have a 40 gallon tank.....how would i assume that? lol because they were saying things like....oooh get the black one....no no get the little silver one.....no get this orange one... and somehow, people who call them by their colors usually don't know what they are dealing with. it made me so sad. i wished the four fish goodluck and went and told my boyfriend the story. i said "they're probably going to put them all in a one gallon bowl" and he goes "what! they're putting them in a bowl...no they need to be stopped. that guy shouldn't sell them to him" and he started to walk towards them, which i had to stop him and tell him that i was assuming they were "bowl-ites" LOLOL we are definately fanatics about fish health.
also they had this HUGE sign in the front of the pet store for rabbits about how "rabbits are not kiddie toys they are live creatures" and that parents shouldn't buy their children a rabbit until they have fully learned how to care for them and can provide enough space, care, food, etc etc. i was like DUUUHHHHHH can't we post a similar sign on the goldie tank?? or how about on the Clown Fish tank saying "Warning: Parents: These are NOT little Nemos. This fish has VERY special needs and CANNOT be put in a bowl with your sink water!" ::sigh:: when will the world realize that fish are just as important as dogs, cats, and yes, the easter bunny. sad.gif

All the people on my horse quiz bowl team thought I was slightly weird because everything reminded me of something fish related and I got ticked off when they spoke of goldies in bowls. I also tended to drift off into my own world watched on of their tropical fish tanks. It was really sad because from the few moments I had watched her fish I knew how many she had and more about them than her. Sad, Sad. They know everyone has their quirks and they just see that as mine. I see it as caring about a living being though... Oh well. What else can you expect people who don't really care about fish to think about a girl who spent the whole afternoon cleaning out her tank and getting it ready for new fish instead of hanging out with her friend who was over? lol
Black oranda
I find it really sad when people go into a
new hobby and don't learn about the type of
fish they are going to get or about Aquariums ect ect
before getting and everything
And most people never learn and keep buying fish and they
keep dieing

Why can't people just learn first?
