Hikari is a good Brand name.

I use Hikari sinking pellets myself.

I've never used anything else by them, but I know a lot of other members on here do. I don't think you were swindled.

My fish love the Hikari Lionhead pellets, which are a small sinking pellet. And the list of ingredients is good too.
I think you can go *very* wrong getting really cheap fish food, but I expect good things from Hikari.

Hikari is a good buy.

I'm using Hikari Lionhead pellets too! Never use Pro Gold before, but heard tonnes of good reviews about it.

It sounds like you now have a nice varied diet for them. IMO, Hikari is one of the best fish food manufacturers out there.
I don't think you got swindled, just use the flakes as their staple diet and add the others at different feedings and keep up the veggies. They will thank you for it.
But don't be tempted too overfeed them since you now have so many choices. They will also thank you if you don't overfeed them.

well i support SERA products. their pellets will "swim" along with the water current. they semi-float.

Hi
I'm not sure about strawberries, but I currently feed our goldies Hikari and I've been very happy with it. I feed them both the flakes and the pellets and they really enjoy it.

I would not feed anything that has seeds.

I love Hiraki products and I think you were given sound advice. My problem is, is that I have been feeding my Red/White Oranda Hiraki Oranda Mini Gold for several months now and about 2 weeks ago he developed swim bladder which may have been attributed to the floating pellets. I feed him every other day now and overall he's back to normal and active but I've switched to flake and he kust sort of looks at it as it sinks to the bottom of the aquarium. I've also pre-soaked pellets and it's the same thing, it's as if he doesn't realize that that's hiw dinner sinking right past in front of his little nose!
Any ideas?

I haven't tried any of Hikari's pellet or flake foods, but I do feed my baby treats of their freeze dried Tubifex worms. She loves them and they're vitamin enriched! This weekend I'm going to get a can of their blood worms as well. I actually chose to try the tubifex worms first because they come in these little cubes. Unlike blood worms which are loose and create waste, these cubes allow for a less messy meal and also provide portion control. My sweet girl Gillian likes to wait while I dunk them in the tank to get them soaked and then eats out of my fingers. Fun!
I've also heard that the Lionhead sinking pellets are great. I'm so worried about possible swim bladder that I shy away from anything that floats.
Oh and, yeah. This is my first post here. Glad I found this site and looking forward to participating. I've got one Black Moor who was given to me as a gift. She came in a tiny bowl and, because I love her so much, I was 'forced' into learning as much about her as I can. She's only in a 10 gallon right now but I've got my eyes on a 29 that I'm probably going to get within the next week or so. We can't wait!
Okay, I'm totally rambling now. Sorry.

I have tried Strawberries!! The inside part, not the outside. The fish did not even eat it though  So I just had to fish it back out. No pun intended.
They love oranges though.
I feed Hikari Lionhead, and Hikari Gold as my main diets. Hikari is a great food. If you compare the ingrediants with other "cheap" brands, you will see that there is a big difference

My moores just finished a bag of Hikari pellets and they grew a lot! I also feed them Hikari frozen "vitamin enriched" brine shrimp, another Hikari treat they loved. I think Hikari is a well-known, quality product. I did defect to Progold though, I wanted to experience what everyone raves about. The price is similar to Hikari anyway. But I will continue to use Hikari frozen foods

sounds like he enjoys the food so much, when he goes for the food he takes a mouthful of air with it. sinking pellets are better when it comes to avoiding SBD as long as they are soaked. try sqeezing the air out of them so they sink for their next feed
